Joy Vess, DNP,
Dr. Joy Vess is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program in the College of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from Clemson University, and Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Vess is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for both adult and pediatric populations. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, National Association of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, Sigma Theta Tau and the Emergency Nurses Association.
Dr. Vess’ experience and interests include emergency medicine, cardiology, occupational health, chronic disease management, and program development and implementation. She previously taught in a Family Nurse Practitioner program in the areas of Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics and Pathophysiology, and was a frequent educator for both registered nurses and nurse practitioners in the areas of EKG interpretation, arrhythmias and palliative care. Dr. Vess is an active board member of a South Carolina charitable organization, which focuses on supporting the poor and needy through medical projects, as well as developing and providing educational materials for worldwide Christian ministry.
