Stephanie Burgess,

Background: Dr. Burgess received her BSN in 1975, her MN and her Family NP Certificate in 1983 and her PhD in 2003 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Research: High-risk teens& Partner abuse - Dr. Burgess’ area of research is varied but focuses on vulnerable populations and health promotion and risk reduction.  Her dissertation centered on teen partner abuse and she developed the first psychometric instrument to measure teen partner abuse.  She also works with the School of Public Health investigating exercise in HIV patients.   Dr. Burgess makes numerous EBP presentations including health policy, reimbursement, and scope of practice issues for advanced practice nursing.  

Teaching: Dr. Burgess’ area of pedagogy is primarily teaching in the graduate curriculum focusing on the Nurse Practitioner Courses and Health Politics/Health Policy Courses for DNP and other Doctoral students.
